Lost WiFi Bbox password, what to do?

Your WiFi Bbox password, also called WPA encryption key, helps protect your internet network from any intrusion. The only downside is that you need it each time you connect to a device for the first time. Considering the complexity and length of the original password, many users decide to personalize it. And unfortunately, whether you have decided to change it or have kept the original one, it is not always easy to remember it.

How do I find the original password of my Wi-Fi Bbox?

If you still have the original password for your WiFi Bbox, two methods can allow you to find it: via the Bbox ou via management interface.

Find the WPA key on the Bbox unit

If you have not changed the original WiFi Bbox password, then the WPA key and therefore the password is quite simply on the box of your Bbox. Depending on the modem models you have, the password can be found in different places:

1 / For the majority of Bbox models, the password is located on the back of the box on a Sticker. The password is a series of numbers and letters that is found after the mention WPA PSK.

2 / For a small number of Bbox models, the WPA key is indicated on a carte blanche slipped on top of the case. Here too the password is a series of numbers and letters which follow the WPA PSK mention. Remember to return the card after using it.

Find the WPA Bbox key on the management interface

If unfortunately the Bbox unit is no longer equipped with the label with the WPA key, then you can find it via Bbox management interface. This interface is a platform dedicated to the operator's users which allows you to control your internet services on the Bbox. Note that if this is the first time that you are connecting to the management interface, you must connect your computer to the Bbox box with the Ethernet cable.

To find your lost original WiFi password using the management interface, do the following:

  1. Type the following page in your browser's search bar: https://mabbox.bytel.fr or enter the following number sequence: 192.168.1.254.
  2. Enter the password of your Bbox account or create it for the first connection.
  3. Click on " Login ».
  4. Go to the " WiFi ". You will find the name of your network and the Wi-Fi password (WPA key).

How to find the personalized WiFi Bbox password?

Have you changed the password of your WiFi Bbox and you cannot find it? You didn't write it down anywhere and couldn't remember? In this case, two methods are available to you to find it: proceed to a reset of the Bbox or go to management interface of your Bbox.

Reset the Bbox to find your lost WPA Bbox key

For find your lost Wi-Fi Bbox password, reset the box. The resetting the Bouygues box allows you to reconfigure the equipment with its factory settings. In other words, it will be set as if you had just received it. Thus, the password you have changed will be erased and the WiFi security key will be the original one and therefore the one found on the Bbox box. To reset your Bbox, press the button Reset which is on the back of the case for at least 10 seconds.

Go to the Bbox management interface

When you have personalized your Bouygues WPA key and lost it, you can also go to the interface of your Bbox to retrieve it. To perform this procedure, you must know the password for your Bbox account or create it.

To find the personalized WiFi Bbox code from the management interface, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the following page in your browser: https://mabbox.bytel.fr or enter the following number sequence: 192.168.1.254.
  2. Then enter your Bbox password and click on " Login ».
  3. Go to the " WiFi ". You will find the name of your network and the Wi-Fi password (WPA key).
Note: If you are going to the Bbox interface with your computer for the first time, connect it with the Ethernet cable (and not in Wifi) for the procedure to work. 

If, despite everything, you cannot find the password for your Wi-Fi key, contact Bouygues assistance by courier, by going directly to the store or to 1064.

      If the procedures indicated in the article have not made it possible to find your wifi code, you should contact Bouygues customer service at 1064.
