Error code 33 on Freebox, what to do?

Error code 33 appears on Freebox Server and more commonly on Freebox Delta. In most cases, when this error code is displayed, you no longer have access to your services due to a software bug or a malfunction of the box. Normally, error code 33 resolves itself after a few minutes or hours. However, some procedures can allow to restart the server and therefore to make the bug disappear more quickly. If the error code persists after the procedures in this article and after several hours, then you will need to contact Free customer service to resolve the problem. What to do to resolve error code 33 on Freebox?

Restart the Freebox to delete error code 33

For remove error code 33 that appeared on your Freebox, first try to restart the server by restarting the box. Indeed, restarting your Freebox, also called “Reboot”, resolves the software bug that may have caused error code 33 to appear. To restart your Freebox Server, several methods exist:

  • Via the Server box, press one of the directional arrows to display the menu then go to the Restart tab and click OK.
  • With Freebox OS interface, identify yourself and click on the Free logo at the bottom left of the menu. Then select Restart the Freebox.
  • Via the Freebox application, go to the Freebox Server tab and choose Restart the Freebox Server.

The box should then turn off and on again. Wait for it to display the time of day. If the error code 33 is gone, the procedure worked and you can resume normal use of your modem. Otherwise, the procedure did not work. In this case, you can restart electrically the device by unplugging it and then plugging it back in.

Reset the Freebox against error 33

If you error code 33 persists on your Freebox, you can then try to reset the modem box. The reset works by restoring factory settings. This eliminates larger malfunctions that a simple restart could not resolve.

To reset the Freebox Delta, Mini 4K, Revolution or Pop, do the following:

  1. Unplug your Free box from the electrical outlet.
  2. Wait 60 seconds then reconnect the power cord to the electrical outlet.
  3. Wait a few seconds while the Free logo appears.
  4. When the logo is displayed, touch screen to access the three starting levels.
  5. First try the emergency start mode to avoid losing your data. Validate.

If after emergency start the error code 33 is always present on the Free box, repeat the manipulation then in step 5, then reset in " Factory settings". Please note, the “Factory settings” reset procedure erases all your personalized data (firewall, Wifi key, etc.). You will therefore need to reconfigure them later.
