My Cookeo switches off in pressurized mode, what should I do?

Your Cookeo turns off and turns back on by itself? Does it stop when in pressurized mode? Although worrying, this problem does not always mean that your Cookeo is doomed. Indeed, this problem can come from different causes, which do not always require a visit to the Moulinex after-sales service. So learn why your Cookeo switches off in pressurized mode and how to correct this problem.

Why does your Cookeo turn off by itself?

Several factors may explain why your Cookeo switches off by itself: power supply problem, wrong adjustment, defective component etc. A few basic checks can already guide you to the origin of the failure:

1 / First of all, remember to check that you have programmed a cooking time. Also check that you have put enough water in the tank (200ml minimum) so that the pressurized mode can start. Finally, check that you have emptied the water collection tank.

2 / When your Cookeo switches off by itself, check if the power cable did not come off following a wrong movement on your part or vibrations. Firmly insert the power cord at the outlet but also at the device.

3 / If your Cookeo stops by itself and trips the circuit breaker, there is a at the device. A short circuit can damage your device and can be dangerous for your safety. It will therefore be necessary without delay to contact a Moulinex approved repair center so that a technician can diagnose the origin of the short circuit and repair it.

4 / If the code 030 or 30 is displayed on the screen, the tank has overflowed and the appliance has put itself in safety. If so, check out our article on error code 30 on a Cookeo.

5 / If the Cookeo switches off only in pressurized mode, and not in the other cooking modes, there may be a internal component is involved. The component can in particular be dirty, badly positioned or defective and thus prevent the pressure from building, to create a voltage problem or a bad contact. In this case, some operations that we will see in the next part can resolve the problem.

What to do when your Cookeo switches off in pressurized mode?

When the Cookeo stops in pressurized mode, or that he goes off then on again, the problem may come from the power source or component. Go to the steps below to try to fix the problem.

Check the power source

My Cookeo turns off by itself, what to do?

When your Cookeo goes into pressurized mode, it consumes more Watts than in other cooking modes. If your power source fails, it may interfere with the voltage and cause the device to automatically shut down. In this case, the Cookeo can switch off and then switch on again once the required voltage decreases.

Then check that the problem is not with power source of your device. To do this, plug your Cookeo into another outlet in your home. If the problem stops, the outlet is defective. In this case, contact a electrician to repair your eclectic installation. If the problem persists, the problem is with your Cookeo.

Be careful, do not plug your device into an extension or multiple socket. Indeed, household appliances with a large power must be plugged directly into the wall outlet, without intermediary. Otherwise, it may cause electrical noise and voltage problems.

Check the condition of the Cookeo cover and valves

Note: If your faulty Cookeo is still under warranty (2 years manufacturer in France for purchases after 2015), contact Moulinex assistance without disassembling the Cookeo. You risk losing the warranty, and an authorized technician can diagnose and repair it free of charge.

If your Cookeo switches off when it switches to pressurized mode, the problem may be with valves. One of them may be dirty or clogged and thus prevent pressure build-up from occurring.

To get started, just try cleaning the metal cover. Refer to your Cookeo's user guide to use the appropriate equipment and products. If your device continues to freeze as it builds up pressure, then you will need to check that the pressure valve, the purple valve and / or the black valve are not dirty or blocked. To do this, here is the procedure to follow:

  1. Open the Cookeo and remove the metal cover its fixing by turning the central nut counterclockwise.
  2. Unclip the valve cover which is located on the front part of the metal cover by grasping it in the center and turning slightly to the right.
  3. Clean the pressure valve, black valve, purple valve and cover using a cloth lightly dipped in lukewarm water with a little washing-up liquid or by referring to the instructions for use.
  4. Check that the black valve moves. If not, it is clogged. It will then be necessary to try again to clean it to remove the source of the blockage.
  5. On the rear part of the cover, remove the ball cover by rotating the plastic cap. After removing the ball, clean it as well as its location. Also check that the hole of the pressure valve (central valve) is not blocked. To do this, you just have to blow into the valve to check that the air comes out from the other side.
  6. Once the entire cover and its parts have been cleaned, wait until everything is dry. It is essential to wait until everything is well dried to avoid damaging your device.
  7. Once dry elements, reassemble them in the reverse order.
Note: you can also find how to clean the valves of your Cookeo in a video tutorial on the net or in your user manual.
