My Magimix Cook Expert does not turn on, what to do?

While the Magimix Cook Expert is renowned for being one of the best robot cookers on the market, unfortunately it can fail. One of the most common failures is a robot that refuses to turn on. To say the least worrying, this failure does not necessarily mean that your device is good for the after-sales service. Sometimes, a few basic checks and manipulations make it possible to find a functional use. First checks

  • If your Cook Expert Magimix no longer turns on after an update, there may have been a bug, corrupted files, or poor execution during the update. In this case, start the entire update procedure again.
  • If your Cook Expert does not work from the first use or after reassembling it, check that you have assembled the robot correctly. To do this, refer to the user manual of your Magimix robot.
  • If your robot cooker took water, it is possible that parts have oxidized, in particular the engine block or the electronic card. In this case, do not use your device and go quickly to a Magimix authorized repairer.

If your Magimix Cook Expert does not light up at all (no light, no beep), start with check that the robot is powered.

First of all, check that the device is correctly plugged in. Indeed, the connections of the Magimix robot are particularly sensitive. One of the power plugs may have become unplugged inadvertently. Disconnect then reconnect the power cord from the wall outlet side and the food processor. Make sure you have pushed in the end caps securely. Then visually check whether the cable appears damaged (stripped, folded, burnt, melted etc). Finish by checking whether the plug is damaged or bent. If the cable or plug appear damaged, you will need to replace the entire power cable.

Then check that the wall outlet works. Indeed, if the plug is defective and does not supply your Cook Expert correctly, it will not be able to turn on. To check the power source, plug the food processor into another outlet in your home. If the device works again, then your outlet is most likely out of order. To be sure, you can plug another assistive device into the outlet in question. If you confirm the fault, then contact an electrician. If the Cook Expert Magimix still does not turn on, the fault is then with the appliance.

Finally, if you have connected your Cook Expert to a power strip or extension, remove them. Indeed, your multifunction robot has a high power consumption. It must therefore be plugged directly into a mains socket, without any intermediate accessories as these may cause electrical interference and voltage problems influencing the correct operation of the Magimix Cook.

Electrical restart of your Magimix Cook Expert

When your Magimix Cook Expert no longer works, it may be that a simple software bug is responsible for the malfunction. An electrical restart of the device then sometimes resolves the problem. Indeed, this makes it possible to completely empty the electricity of the food processor and thus to remove the errors and bugs stored in its memory which can prevent it from functioning normally. For restart your Cook Expert electrically, do the following:

  1. Switch off the food processor
  2. Unplug its power cord to cut the power
  3. Wait 2 minutes, the time for it to drain electrically

Important: If your robot cooker is under warranty (3 years parts), contact directly Magimix support via their form. You can also go to the after-sales service of your dealer or from an authorized Magimix repairer with your device for free repair. 

Check the condition of the parts

Note: Before handling, always unplug the power cord in order to avoid electric shock. Electrical skills are required to test, measure, and replace parts. If you are not knowledgeable, seek professional help to avoid any risk to you or your device.  

When your Magimix Cook Expert does not work, the parts most at risk of breaking down and that it will therefore be necessary to check are:

  • If the Cook Expert does not work but turns on, the problem may be with the security. Indeed, if the bowl is overloaded, badly positioned or defective, the safety will engage to avoid damage. If you were preparing, empty the bowl, wait for the appliance to cool down and try to operate the robot again, taking care not to overload it. Otherwise, visually check that your bowl is not damaged or deformed.
  • If you multifunction robot turns on but does not turn, it may be that the motor, gears or belt are HS. Visually check the condition of these components. If necessary, also take the measurements.
  • If the Cook Expert does not turn on at all, the On / Off button which manually opens the electrical circuit may be defective. To test it, you will need to do a continuity test.
  • Finally, if the Magimix Cook Expert no longer turns on, it is also possible that the electronic card or HS. It will also be necessary to test the supply voltage.

If you do not have the skills to disassemble and test the various parts of the Cook Expert and / or if you cannot replace the HS part, call a professional repairman.

That your Magimix robot that no longer works, either guaranteed or not, we advise you to go to a Magimix authorized repairer so that a technician can diagnose your device. If necessary and after validation from you, he will replace the defective part with a certified spare part (3 years warranty for a certified part / 30 years warranty for the engine).

  1. BJ, I just had the problem, full shutdown while on the cooking program with the basket. I had to take my pressure cooker!. I checked and found a shorted diode on the SB 5100 power board (100 V 5 Amp) I replaced it and it works. I had inquired, the after-sales service bills with a fixed price of 150 € minimum. I had a little trouble because the diagrams are not found!, a diode at 80 cents.

      Your Cook expert is probably encountering a software bug. Have you tried resetting it? If that doesn't work, the motor sensor may also be faulty. In this case, since your device is still under warranty, the best thing to do is to contact the after-sales service of the reseller store for an exchange of the product.
