The integrated scale of your Thermomix bug? Do you notice weighing deviations, irrational values or an absent display? The problem of weighing on a Thermomix is relatively recurrent. And in particular on the TM5 models sold until 2019 where many users all complain about the same failure: the Thermomix scale no longer weighs. So where does this problem come from? And what can you do to try to repair a scale that no longer works yourself, without calling the after-sales service? Find out the answers in this article.

Why does your Thermomix balance no longer work properly?

Possible causes

Several factors can explain that the balance of your Thermomix no longer weighs correctly or at all :

In most cases, the problem is with sensors. They can lose the connection with their connector when unhooking but also be defective and no longer work. It could also be a problem connecting to the motherboard (or control card). Here too the problem can come from an unhooking of the wires connected between the motherboard and the sensors or from defective elementary components. These two factors will require the Thermomix to be disassembled as the components are in the engine block.

Finally, it is possible that the balance of your Thermomix no longer works because of a poor general condition of the device. The advantage here is that checking and repairing does not require disassembly of the robot. This is why we will first carry out these checks:

Check the general condition of the Thermomix

Thermomix scale that no longer works, what to do?

First of all, know that the balance of the device is extremely sensitive and therefore fragile. At the slightest destabilization, the weighing can be distorted. Yes the scale of your Thermomix no longer weighs correctly, you will then have to check certain points:

1 - Check the condition of the Thermomix feet. If you find that the feet are dirty, clean them by removing any crumbs and debris. Then use a contact cleaning spray for electrical and electronic components. We recommend the 3 in 1 bomb from Norauto. If you notice that the feet are not at the same height and / or that one of them is damaged, then it will probably be necessary to replace the defective foot to regain balance precision.

2 - Check that the Thermomix is not not placed on its power cable because that can panic the scales. Also make sure that the cable is not too tight.

3 - If the Thermomix scale does not weigh correctly, check that it is positioned on a uniform, solid, stable and vibration-free work surface. For example, a tiled worktop is not recommended because small irregularities between the tiles can cause the scale to fail to measure.

Note: Be careful not to create an imbalance in the balance by tapping on the edge of the bowl (by breaking eggs for example). By force, this can destabilize the scale which is extremely sensitive. In addition, be careful when moving the Thermomix. Move it by lifting it and not by pulling it because this can damage the feet and cause an imbalance of the Thermomix and the scale.

If these few checks did not give anything, your Thermomix probably no longer weighs because of a connection fault at the level of the sensors of the balance. In this case, go to the next step in our guide to try to solve the problem on your own, without going through the after-sales service.

What to do if the scale of your Thermomix no longer weighs?

Why are the sensors defective?

As previously stated, the Thermomix scale certainly no longer weighs because the sensors are defective. This does not mean that they are necessarily dead. Most of the time, the problem comes from one or more connectors of sensors that simply disconnected due to vibrations repeated times of the Thermomix.

This is because connectors are extremely small pins and very sensitive to vibrations. And even if you don't always feel it, when you use the Thermomix, the device constantly emits more or less powerful vibrations. Over time, this can alter the contact of these connectors. The sensors lose their connection and are therefore no longer correctly supplied with electricity. This poor contact of the connectors leads to too low or no current and therefore the scale starts to bug or no longer work.

It is also possible that the connectors are dirty and that they are faulty. nettoyer. However, this is more rare. Reconnect the connectors can often be used to recover a working scale.

This weighing problem appears in particular on Thermomix TM5 models.

  2. Just called…. 170 euros… for a defect noted on the TM5 before 2019. A manufacturing error. That's where Thermomix's reputation goes as far as I'm concerned.
