SMEG ovens are highly appreciated kitchen equipment for their quality, performance and elegant design. However, like any electronic device, it may require time adjustment, whether after a power outage, a change of season, or simply to ensure cooking time accuracy. In this article, we will see the different steps required to reset the time on a SMEG oven.
How to set the time on a SMEG oven?
You can find yourself in two scenarios : the display panel displays 00:00 flashing ou the display panel indicates a time but which is not the correct one. Depending on the situation in which you find yourself the procedure will not be exactly the same :
1. Set the time when the clock shows 00:00
If the control panel flashes and displays 0.00, 00:00, –:– or something similar, it indicates that you need to reset your oven clock. Without this manipulation, your oven will not work. This can happen following a power outage or during installation before first use.
In that case, the procedure for setting the SMEG oven to the most common time for all models is as follows :
- Simultaneously press the keys of cooking time
as well as end of cooking 
. - The dot between the hours and minutes starts flashing.
- Press the + and – keys to set the time. You can hold down the key of your choice to make the numbers scroll more quickly.
- Once you have reset the oven time, press the end of cooking button ou wait 5 seconds.
When you have finished resetting the SMEG oven clock, the dot between the hours and minutes will stop flashing.
You have been warned! : the cooking time symbol must be displayed on the clock control panel for your oven to turn on. If it does not appear, press the cooking duration and end of cooking buttons simultaneously.

2. Reset the time on an incorrectly set clock
If you want reset the clock of your SMEG oven following a time change or a programming error, and therefore the clock already indicates a time but which is not the correct one, you will need everything first reset it turning it off for a few minutes.
To do this, unplug it from the electrical outlet or turn off its power at the circuit breaker. Once you turn the power back on, the clock display should then flash at 00:00 Or on -:-. You can then follow the procedure indicated above or refer to the instruction manual corresponding to your oven if the described method does not work.
What to do if you cannot reset the time on a SMEG oven?
You may come across a problem setting the SMEG oven clock. If you have followed the procedure corresponding to your oven indicated above or in the instructions for use, then your oven may encounter a larger software or hardware problem. Generally, it is one of the electronic cards that no longer works correctly.
