My Cookeo is no longer under pressure, what should I do?

While you want to feast around a good meal cooking with your favorite pressure cooker, the pressure mode of your Cookeo no longer works correctly? This failure is one that is most frequently found on this device. This because several factors can be responsible. More or less important, some will be solved easily, by your own means. While others will require more advanced skills in electronics. So, find out in this article why your Cookeo does not build up any more pressure and what to do to solve the problem.

Why is your Cookeo no longer building up pressure?

Why is my Cookeo no longer building up pressure?

There may be several reasons why your Cookeo does not build up pressure. Some indicators will allow you self-diagnose breakdown easily:

• If your appliance has not heated up at all during cooking, or if the fault appears in all the cooking modes and not only in the "pressurized" mode, it may be that the fault is due to the resistance or to the the lower probe of your Cookeo. In this case, we invite you to read our article: my cookeo does not heat up anymore, what to do?

• If your Cookeo no longer builds up pressure and the code 21 appears, it means that there is not enough water for the pressure to build up. If it is the code 24 displayed, it means that the pressure is insufficient when you are in the fast cooking mode. In this case too, the problem very often stems from a lack of water in the tank. Then try to add water. If that still doesn't work, see the article for your error code.

• If your Cookeo does not build up pressure, not enough, that the steam escapes even before having started the pressure mode and / or that it displays the code 28, 4, 5 or 6 the problem then arises. most likely from an internal component in poor condition or faulty. It will then need to be cleaned or replaced to resolve the problem.

What to do when your Cookeo does not build up pressure?

First of all, check that you put enough water to allow your Cookeo to build pressure. Indeed, when you use the pressure cooking mode, you must have minimum 200ml of water in the tank so that the Cookeo can build up pressure and operate normally.

Note: In France, your Cookeo is covered by a 2-year legal warranty. If your Cookeo is still within these deadlines, do not disassemble and / or replace a component on your own as you risk losing your warranty rights. Contact the Moulinex customer service for a technician to diagnose and repair the device.

Check the Cookeo valves

Note: For safety reasons, disconnect your Cookeo electrically before carrying out the following operations.

When your Cookeo no longer builds up pressure, it is possible that the valves are dirty or blocked. If the device displays the code 28, this confirms that there is a pressure valve error. First, just try to clean the metal cover. Refer to your Cookeo's user guide to use the appropriate equipment and products.

If that doesn't work, then you will need check that the central pressure valve is not dirty or blocked and that black valve next to it moves correctly. To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Remove the metal cover by turning the central nut.
  2. Remove the valve cover on the front of the metal cover. To do this, grab it in the center and rotate it slightly to the right to unclip it. Clean the valves, the purple valve and the cover referring to the instructions for use or using a cloth lightly dipped in water with washing-up liquid. Check that the black valve moves when you push it in with your finger.
  3. On the back of the cover, remove the ball cover (or pressure valve) by rotating the plastic cap, then remove the ball. Clean the ball, the location of the ball and check that the hole in the pressure valve (central valve) is not blocked. To do this, blow into the valve and check that the air passes. Also check that there are no traces of oxidation (brown traces).
  4. After thorough cleaning, allow all parts to dry thoroughly to prevent sticking or shorting. Once dry, reassemble the parts in the reverse order. Be careful not to tighten the central nut too strongly. Stop screwing when you feel a little resistance.

If the procedure worked, the error code 28 should disappear and the pressure build-up should be erased.

Check the condition of the seals

If after attempting to clean the cover, your Cookeo still does not build up pressure, it may be that one of the joints are the source of the problem. Indeed, the gaskets keep your pressure cooker waterproof. If one of them no longer fulfills his role, the pressure can no longer be put on.

Clean the gaskets well (cover gasket and reflector gasket) and the edges of the device so that they can be closed properly. Also check their condition. If you notice that one of the gaskets is damaged (cracked, peeled off, etc.), it will have to be replace. You can find spare parts on the internet or by going to a Moulinex approved repair center which have certified parts.

Check the pressure cooker upper probe

The upper probe is used to control the cooking temperature and the pressure of the appliance. It is possible that your Cookeo no longer builds up pressure because of a probe failure. In this case, the error code 4, 5 or 6 may be displayed.

The probe is inside the cover of your device. The cover nut is screwed onto the probe rod. To test if it is bad, you will need to measure the resistance using an ohmmeter or multimeter set to ohmmeter. If the probe is functioning correctly, the measurement should be between 110 and 130 ohm. In the event that the measurement is not correct, it will be necessary replace the upper probe by ordering it on the internet or by calling the Moulinex repair center.

Note: Risk of electric shock and damage to the device. If you are not competent to take measurements or replace the probe, contact a professional.

Contact Moulinex customer service
